CORPORATE SOCIAL PURPOSE (CSP) INTERN – VOLUNTEER TENNESSEE (MAY 2025-PRESENT)

Volunteer Tennessee is the Tennessee Governor’s Commission on Volunteerism and Service. Our CSP network was launched in June 2025, and it is a group of professionals dedicated to furthering corporate social responsibility. As a CSP Intern for this organization, my primary responsibilities are day-to-day tasks and a priority project of my choosing to assist in developing our network.
Hours: 10-15/week
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Contact Database Management:
- Research and reach out to Tennessee small businesses to add to our Microsoft Excel contact database.
- Follow up with potential contacts 3 times (once every 3 days).
- Interview Series:
- Reach out to Tennessee small businesses to prospect corporate social purpose and responsibility (CSP-R) interviews to gain insights from CSP-R professionals.
- Schedule interviews and research contacts prior to the interview date.
- Record interviews, take notes during the interview, and process the interview transcri[t.
- Analyze interviews using a SurveyMonkey form.
Priority Project:
- Use Canva to create an interactive slide-doc resource that informs Tennessee music businesses on how to incorporate CSP-R initiatives into their business frameworks.
- Research best practices and methods for implementing CSP-R into a mmusic business.
- Research Tennessee-based music businesses to conduct case studies.
- Research Tennessee-based nonprofit organizations for music businesses to partner with.
- Tailor recommendations to both small and large businesses.
- Ensure resource is navigable and legible on PCs, tablets, and mobile phones.
- Provide information about Volunteer Tennessee’s CSP Network.
- Include consistent branding for Volunteer Tennessee and the CSP Network.
- Continuously receive and implement feedback from my fellow interns and my supervisor.
- Present my priority project on August 1, 2025 to the CSP Network Core.

PEER MENTOR AND TUTOR – MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY WRITING CENTER (AUGUST 2024-PRESENT)

MTSU’s Margaret H. Ordoubadian University Writing Center (UWC) is a space dedicated to peer-to-peer collaboration. Students can meet virtually, asynchronously, or in-person with a tutor to receive feedback on one writing assignment of any genre. The UWC also hosts a variety of clubs, such as Creative Writing Club, a trauma writing group, and Culture and Conversation.
Hours: 15-20/week
Peer Tutor Responsibilities:
- Provide constructive and kind feedback to students, without being overly directive.
- Conduct 1 hour online, in-person, and asynchronous appointments.
- Review the student’s assignment sheet.
- Assist the student in aligning their assignment to their professor’s assignment sheet.
- Provide online and paper resources for students to refer to outside of their appointment.
- Provide detailed, constructive comments on asynchronous appointments.
- Write a summary of my feedback as a client report form using the WCOnline.
- For asynchronous appointments, provide client with a Microsoft Word document with feedback comments.
Peer Mentor Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly professional development meetings with a small group of colleagues.
- Follow the agenda provided by my writing center administrator.
- Guide colleagues through discussions on writing center pedagogy and tutoring methodologies.
- Guide colleagues through collaborative discussions on how to better our university writing center.
- Conduct semesterly observations of my small group.
- Observe an asynchronous appointment for each group member.
- Assess the quality of my group members’ appointments.
- Provide feedback for my group members to better their tutoring approaches.
- Send all observations to my writing center administrator.
- Serve as a point of contact for my small group during the work day.
Creative Writing Club Co-Host Responsibilities:
- Co-host a safe space with my colleague for students to experiment with and share their creative writing.
- Alternate between workshop and sharing days.
- Ensure that every student has time to participate in sharing their work.
- Create a collaborative environment for students to forge connections among fellow creative writers.
- Encourage students to participate in submission and open-mic opportunities.
SHIFT LEADER – DRKMTTR COLLECTIVE (DECEMBER 2022-PRESENT)

DRKMTTR Collective is a 501(c)(3) certified non-profit all-ages music venue. We host local and touring acts, and book them within our small venue. Aside from our contributions to the Nashville music scene, DRKMTTR Collective’s Social Club focuses on community engagement efforts, such as skillshares and our weekly co-working event.
Hours: 15-20/week
Shift Leader Responsibilities:
- Calculate the amount of presale and in-person tickets from the night.
- Input this information into the settling Microsoft Excel sheet
- Settle with the promoter or headlining band using the deal arrangement in OpenDate.
- Place our $150 room fee into an envelop for storage in our safe.
- Provide all bands with a W-9 form for bookkeeping.
- Input my coworker’s positions that evening (i.e., door, bar, sound) in our Microsoft Excel workbook.
- Participate in closing duties for your position (i.e., door, bar, sound)
- Set the alarm and lock the front door at the end of the evening.
Door Responsibilities:
- Attendees:
- Check in online tickets on OpenDate.
- Handle cash to sell attendees day-of tickets.
- Check in guest list members.
- Check each attendee’s identification:
- Provide a DRKMTTR-branded stamp to attendees who are 21+.
- Draw an “X” on attendees who are under 21.
- Band members:
- Provide each band member with a wristband.
- Check each band member’s identification:
- Provide a DRKMTTR-branded stamp to members who are 21+.
- Draw an “X” on band members who are under 21.
- Design a sandwich board sign for the evening’s event.
- Answer any questions related to tickets, the guest-list, and parking.
- Take all trash and cardboard waste ccout at the end of the evening.
- Sweep and mop, if necessary.
- Wipe off surfaces.
Bar Responsibilities:
- Food and Beverage Preparation:
- Restock the fridge behind the bar, as needed.
- Prepare and cook Guerilla Bizkits (vegan Southern biscuits) for the evening.
- Set out chips and Cosmic Brownies for sale.
- Open the cash register.
- Set up the Square Point-of-Sale system.
- Sell products to attendeesc
- Ensure alcohol sales are only for attendees and band members with a DRKMTTR-branded stamp.
- Process drink tickets for touring bands.
- Use the Square Point-of-Sale system and cash to sell products to attendees.
- Close the cash register and Point-of-Sale systecm at the end of the evening.
- Restock the fridge behind the bar.
- Wipe off surfaces.
- Count out employee tips at the end of the evening.
- If assigned shift leader, follow the responsibilities for this position.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly meetings to collaborate with my co-workers on developing DRKMTTR’s functioning and space.
- Assist with social media marketing and outreach.
- Participate in cleaning days when no event is scheduled.
